Leverage the Power of SLIM with IBM Rational RUP & RPM |
QSM recently announced the methodology in its SLIM suite of tools will be provided as a plug-in to the IBM Rational Unified Process in IBM Rational Method Composer (RMC), as well as to Rational Portfolio Manager (RPM).
For RMC users, this tie-in brings the value of QSM's renowned processes for Project Estimation and Planning, Measurement, Project Control and Adaptive Forecasting, to Rational RMC for the first time. These RMC plug-in processes support the achievement of higher maturity levels in industry best practice process standards such as SEI's CMMI and ISO 9000, which are of increasing importance to Rational customers.
With RPM, users will findthat estimates contained in QSM SLIM-Estimates solution log can be exported to IBM Rational Portfolio Manager leveraging the IBM Rational Portfolio Manager web services-based Application Programming Interface (API). The integration of SLIM-Estimate data to RPM will provide a more realistic work breakdown structure for IBM Rational Portfolio Manager project managers looking to automate these planning tasks. Using a few inputs made in SLIM-Estimate on project size and productivity,Rational Portfolio Manager project managers can generate a defendable project plan in minutes instead of days or weeks.
