SLIM-Suite workbooks are forward, but not backward compatible. This means that files created in earlier major releases (e.g., 9.0, 10.2, 10.3) of SLIM-Suite can be opened and upgraded using a more recent major release. But once a workbook is upgraded and saved, it is no longer compatible with prior versions of SLIM-Suite desktop applications. The general rule to remember is that files created in/upgraded to a newer major release cannot be opened using a prior release of any SLIM-Suite tool. Point releases (10.4a, 10.4b, 104.c) are inter-compatible – a workbook created in 10.4c can be opened in 10.4a, and vice versa because they are part of the same major release.
To open and upgrade workbooks created in previous versions of SLIM-Suite, select File | Open from the menu. Browse to the desired directory, select the workbook, then click Open. You will be prompted to upgrade your workbook to the current file format. Click “Yes” to begin the update or “No” to cancel.
If you choose to upgrade, the application will present one or more of the following options, depending on the version and contents of the selected file:
See the SLIM-Suite Product Guides for more information about your file type.
